This course trains Airmen to perform duties prescribed in the Air Force Enlisted Classification Directory for Command and Control Operations Apprentice course, AFSC 1C331. Training prepares airmen to perform the duties of a command and control operations specialty apprentice, to include the primary responsibilities of providing command and control (C2) for the Wing commander. Theses duties range from being the hub of all base activities and the primary point of contact on base ensuring all information flows to and from higher headquarters; implementation of emergency actions procedures from the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff; C2 standards, security, operations of command post and communications equipment; manual and automatic reporting systems; scheduling and coordination of flight operations, weather, nuclear orders and command post status display. Controllers act as both the eyes and ears of the Wing commander and are responsible for keeping the commander aware of all activities going on at any given time. The command post is manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through shift work.
